I am often asked what the number one thing is to train a new puppy. My answer is simple: forget training and focus on socialisation. Having a puppy that is well adjusted to the sights, smells and sounds of the world around them, that is used to a range of people, animals, vehicles and experiences takes precedence over everything. Yes EVERYTHING! Of course basic obedience training basic is important, but a puppy that is well socialised and confident in their environment will be in a much better place to learn.
